DARJEELING HIMALAYAN RAILWAY ‘WORLD
HERITAGE’
This locomotive with little changes still running over hundred years as Toy Train. The Train gains its gradient with the help of loops and zigzags, is a marvel of engineering feat. The highest point in this line is Ghoom Railway Station which is 7407 ft. The journey takes more than 7 hours and line passes through green forests and tea gardens. A must for the steam locomotive enthusiast. Diesel Engine introduced on 21st May 2000 from Darjeeling to NJP and vice versa.

AIR: The nearest airport Bagdogra is primarily for Darjeeling Hill areas.
Bagdogra is 12 kms (7.5 miles) from Siliguri. Journey Time – about 15 mins( by

Siliguri is connected to Calcutta, Darjeeling, Sikkim, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, and entire Dooars and Terai by large network of roads. Both Public and Private buses ply to these places regularly.

Sikkim Nationalized Transport (S.N.T.): Sikkim Nationalised Transport ply's buses mainly to entire Sikkim. For hills of Sikkim, Sikkim Nationalized Transport is suited rather than N.B.S.T.C. Private buses and taxis ply to almost all parts of North Bengal and Sikkim, they provide good communication bridge between the plains and the hills. Over the years they matured into a reliable transportation system.
There are regular bus and taxis to Darjeeling, Gangtok ( Capital of Sikkim ), Kurseong, Kalimpong, Mirik and other terrain places. These private taxis are more reliable than Government Services, and they are fast and safe.
